ONLINE ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING PROGRAMME

Anthony Anaxagorou has designed an online one-to-one poetry mentoring programme for those keen to receive regular feedback and development on their poems.

What the programme involves:

Whether you’re just starting out on your poetry journey or are at the stage where you’re looking to submit a pamphlet or full collection to a publisher, Anthony will offer monthly line edits on your work along with thoughts and suggestions on how poems can be improved.

You’ll learn new ways to organise and structure poetic language and thought, as well as having a space to bounce ideas around. Anthony will cover a range of techniques from lineation, musicality, form, and image building, to intention, avoiding cliches and looking at how we can control language better on the page. You’ll also get the chance to discuss the best places to submit your work — from publishers and literary journals, to looking at how proposals are put together.

At the start of each month, poets can send Anthony up to 8 poems in a word document for feedback. The document will then be returned with notes on where lines and ideas are working, while also considering what could be improved, tweaked or revised.

A one hour Zoom consultation will then follow towards the end of each month where Anthony will go through the notes he’s made, and poets can discuss any relative changes they’ve made to their poems or questions they may have regarding his feedback.

Duration and Cost:

5-month programme at £190 per month

7-month programme at £170 per month

10-month programme at £160 per month

*Payments are to be made in single lump sum. For all other general enquiries regarding course durations please email: info (at) anthonyanaxagorou.com

TESTIMONIALS

‘Anthony is a tough reader. In retrospect, that’s what any poet needs at the beginning of their career, their practice. From day one, regardless of how long or little you’ve been writing, Anthony applies his concordance-like knowledge, his eclectic ear, and fierce (and often mushy) heart to your poems. One feels the stakes of being a poet, of the real life-rendering work of craft in those mentoring sessions, which extend beyond the bounds of the individual poem. If our voice is made up of the books on our shelves, then so too of our teachers. I’m proud to have Anthony as one the voices in my head.’

— Oluwaseun Olayiwola

‘Anthony is a brutally honest teacher, with a generous and loving heart. His meticulous analysis is rooted in an uncompromising clarity of what poetics involve. He pushed me to the edges of myself, expanding my understanding of language. Anthony teaches you that discomfort is the ground for growth. In relinquishing my early resistance to Anthony’s fierce critique, I leant into trust — he helped me transform my work and who I am, as both a poet and writer. Having worked with several mentors, I know that Anthony’s consistent availability, guidance and loyalty is unparalleled. I have been gifted with a rare kinship and care, in an often hyper-individualistic and transactional industry.’

— Sanah Ahsan

‘Anthony as a mentor has been invaluable. Not just in terms of his astute editorial eye but as a writer, his enthusiasm and passion for championing new voices is unbound. My progression and confidence to continue to pursue poetry has undoubtedly come from this mentorship.’
